With summer semi-officially over, it seems a good time to reflect on some sights from July and August. Here's another hummer. In this photo, a female broad-tailed hummingbird harvests nectar from penstemon flower in a northern Arizona field.
Another great capture! Love the framing and the single color background. Is it a kind of wall or does the ground behind it provide that uniforum look?
Anyway... even thought the red flowers draw some attention as well, the star of the show are the beige, brown and greenish tones - really beautiful. If you want, please feel invited to share it as a great example in the thread on earth tones as well.
I love me some rufous hummer. We don't get them too often in the high desert of northern Arizona but I've enjoyed a couple of days pulled off along a roadside in the White Mountains photographing rufous hummers from the comfort of my truck's driver's seat :)
It's a figure of speech. Labor day is sometimes described as the last weekend of summer. September 21 is the autumnal equinox. Feel free to nominate your date for the title 😀
The background is a northern Arizona field of straw-hued tall grass that nicely blends into a uniform palette when out of focus. The early morning light gives the scene a nice even illumination.
