The following lens is for sale in my area. Google image search suggests a TAIR-3 300mm? If so I believe that is M42 or M39 mount? and could be adapted to MFT? Any gotchas other than weight? I see it is not a zoom but gets good reviews...

I am looking at buying a barely used Panny G9 so if suitable could be a cheap lens...

    TIA

I think that these lenses were used on the old Zenith "photosniper" kit and it does have an M42 mount there are plenty of adapters available for m43 If I recall there is even a speed booster adapter. The silver dial is used for focussing

    Hi!
I'm a little bit late for this thread, but maybe my info would be useful anyway...
I can confirm this is Tair 3, probably version from "photosniper" setup. It has M42 mount (M42x1) and can be adapted for MFT.
    Note 2 things:
    - Don't mix M42 mount with T-Mount which is M42x0.75 thread. Not only pitch of the thread is different (enough to block screwing fully in lens mount into adater or body), but also register distance and subsequently adapter length is different very significantly (very roughly 1 cm or so, as I remember). I have both adapters, M42-m4/3 and T-m4/3
    - On some cases there's some problem with adapter length and infinity focus. Here's the advantage of thread mount adapters: You may fix the problem by simple machining the adapter; I had to shorten mine about 0.8 mm or so to achive infinity with an adapted 300 mm M42 telephoto lens (not Tair3).
    Regards,
