    Hi All,

Finally happened, slipped and fell on my 5D Mark IV + EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM. I tried Canon factory service and the lens didn't show up as able to repair. Didn't think it was that old!! I have found the following company and wonder if anyone has had experience having them repair a lens:

Canon Camera & Camcorder Repair Center & Service Inc
    1947 West Glenoaks Blvd.
    Glendale, CA 91201 U.S.A

Damage is the outside ring and the cover that sets next to the front lens that has the camera information on it. The ring has a slight indent and the cover is wrinkled and away from the glass in one spot. The company is quoting $152 to do the repair which seems reasonable. The lens seems to focus and adjust ok, I am worried that the cover (or whatever it is called) will allow moisture into the lens. The lens cap took most of the hit and had to be replaced. Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.......Thanks, Bob

Do it. To me that is an acceptable risk for a lens of that cost and quality. If you do. Report back.

it is still shall be repairable = canon.jp/support/repair/period as it is still listed there as "EF24-70 2.8L II USM: TBD" - so no end of repair time

    Hi Greg,
I hadn't seem that review, so, I sent in the lens. Spoke with them 4 days after they received the lens and was told I would receive an email the next day. It took four days but the email outlined the damage and the repair price went up because the barrel was damaged also. I will give them a week to repair and if haven't heard anything, I'll call again. The 24-70 MKII is my favorite lens so, I am very anxious to get back in proper shape. I tried the Canon USA site and they didn't list the lens as repairable, so this was my best least best alternative. I'll report back on paying with a credit card and how the repair went. The lens is covered by insurance by State Farm, so if the repair falls through I can be re-imbursed for the lens. I agree that I am not going to send them a check or want to pay via PayPal. We'll see how it goes.......Bob
