I've heard of DPDiscuss.com. Which do you think is better?

Bumping back and forth between a long list of Facebook pages seems a logistical nightmare to me.
DPDiscuss is terrible! Not even comparable. Not going to try.
I don’t have a Bookface account and I don’t want one. Any effort that the OP wished to volunteer for that site would, IMO, be better served helping here.
I have not tried DPDiscuss.com much but it feels a little awkward. I have been trying RFshooters.com and I kind of like it. DPrevived.com seems to be very similar to it but with even fewer members at the moment.
FB always seems overly complicated and 'fiddly' but that's probably because I have little use for and have used it little. Could also be because l'm not a teenager any longer!
And FB isn't suitable for discussions. Everything just fades away.
And then there is this. I don't think my photos have any monetary value, but I'm not going to give them to Meta to do what they please with.

As a general principle I don't like being at the mercy of an opaque algorithm. It tends to prioritize drama/engagement over quality of interaction.
While I do use FB, for this kind of use I personally prefer a dedicated forum site. But obviously the keyword here is "personally", so anyone else should use whatever they prefer.
I think DPRevived sounds good now but will eventually be awkward to new people. I can hear people ask "revive what exactly?".
Perhaps deconstruct the name and come up with something that will last:
"DP" works as it holds up the past while anchoring what the site is all about.
What comes after "DP" that will last the test of time?:
"DPDiscuss"-makes sense if this is only a forum.
"DPDaily"-sounds like a blog which it probably won't be.
"DPChat"
"DPForum"
"DPRoundtable"
"DPRapport"
"DPCommune"
Added to that, being at the "mercy" of Meta is no better than being at the mercy of Amazon. The site, the way it works or even its very existence could be changed or cancelled any time Zuckerberg or one of his minions has a brain fart.
And meanwhile the amount of influence anyone has over how the site looks and operates will be negligible. It will work the way(s) Meta decides it will work on any given day.
The effort being made here is clearly orders of magnitude more work. But it has the chance to become a durable and independent resource.
Yes, it is. AFAIK Amazon doesn't own the content we have contributed.
I still prefer the Revived name. DPDiscuss loses the DPR connection.
I’ve checked out a few sites. The Open Photography Forum is nicely done. I like the layout of the just opened DPRForum…but I don’t like the fact that they automatically made a number of the original mods at DPReview to be mods there. I like the clean break here and value that. No offence to the mods…I just like the fresh start.
Agree. I didn't get at first the DPDiscuss = DPR Clone.
Well, not that this is a contest and I honestly think that all efforts that enables people to stay in contact are for the good, but there is no doubt now this site attracts the most people. That alone make it the best place if we want to keep the DPR community together.
Ditto.
I'll end up wherever the Open Talk mods are not.
And Hi Dave. Long time, no see.
