Here is a straight jpeg of the photo:
and here's a link to a dropbox for the CR2 raw file.
ABOUT THE PHOTO:
On the way to see the macaques that bathe in the hot springs in Nagano, Japan, I walked passed this scene. I've never made an effort to process this photo, so I'm really curious to see what others do with it!
GENERAL RULES:
1) A previous round winner presents an image, having at least some potential for different crops or visions.
2) Anyone (except author of original image) can enter and edit the presented image, up to three distinct edits in separate posts are permitted, though the author can show his edit at the close of the competition, but not before.
3) All edits must be based on original image, not on another people's edits (of course borrowing ideas would not be a problem).
4) Short explanations about your editing intentions are encouraged, but not required.
5) Once the deadline for images has been reached, no new image versions will be accepted. Questions and (polite) discussions of techniques are welcome, so that we can learn from one another how certain edits were achieved.
6) The edited version with most likes, wins and its author will start next round, unless they would prefer to pass the torch to someone else.
7) On the closing day for voting, if there is a draw in the number of votes for two or more edits, then the person that posted the original photo (me!) will decide the winner from the the photos receiving the most votes.
EDITING RULES:
1) All "normal" adjustments (brightness, colors, curves etc) are permitted (both local and global ones).
2) All geometric adjustments (perspective, cropping etc) are permitted.
3) Artistic effects (brushes, textures etc) are allowed.
4) No additions or replacements may be made to the main subject matter of the image; non-essential objects may be removed, and parts of the original image can be "moved" to a different position in the image. Sky replacements are OK unless the sky is the main subject. (We are still refining this rule).
5) Generative AI must not be used.
TIMING:
Get your images posted by Sunday, April 20th. Voting allowed up to the choosing of the winner on Monday, April 21st. You may vote during the entire contest for as many photos as you like.
I'll post a reminder towards the end of the competition.
