I know for a fact that people on both sides have no trouble at all finding outlets providing echo chambers that reinforce their beliefs and shield them from challenging information. The counts don't have to match in order for both sides to be adequately supplied. Both sides in a nuclear war don't need to have the same count of warheads to assure mutual destruction. They just need adequate supplies of them.
