Well, the Leica 28/1.7 has quite a good macro mode, so that might explain some of it, yes.

Possibly, but I doubt it. Sociopaths' are emotionless creature...

    Hi,

Same story with the Medium Format forum. No issues over on DPR and no activity here once everyone found out the old place wasn't shutting down after all

As to the other DPR moderation issue, seems to me that the root cause was questioning the moderation. That's a rule violation over there.

It seems so yes. I made a public post questioning the deletion of an earlier post. Still, what's the point of deleting completely harmless posts in a forum that is next to dead? Off topic or not. And the forum will we even more dead now, I was one of the few active posters. Now that I think of it, most fora that MAKO2011 is moderating are pretty quiet, if not dying.

Not the Nikon Z forum, which is very active. There is almost no moderation on this web site, but most forums are dead. There are a few repeated threads which keep this site going.

I like to think of it as 'stable' 😁

A good base to build on when short and long term plans are implemented.

    Hi,

    Yeah. Stable.

Dead is the Kodak SLR Forum. The first page goes back to May 2022. But, then, that makes sense on its own and not Mod related. It doesn't even list any Mods. Doesn't need one. :P

Meanwhile the Medium Format forum rolls along quite briskly. That first page only goes back a week. Which is pretty darned good given the subject. And the Mods on that one are tops, too, all 3 of them. :)

I would call it stagnant, unfortunately. 😭 Hopefully it will gain momentum.

Most of the remain-ers on DPR are bum kissers who love the sound of their own opinions...

Sounds like your own loved opinion. And absolutely disrespectful one.

To me it would be much more healthy and practical to just skip grievances related to DPR and keep this site as an entirely separate entity, for both better and worse aspects of everything. Making things "us vs them" is pretty poisonous stuff.

I don't like the sound of that opinion.

It is not about 'us vs them' at all... it is about the pathetic moderation that drives people away. Censorship is the wrong way of going about things, and especially the way they do it with certain types moderators.

My point is that complaining about another site's practices here again and again instead of just leading by example and keeping on posting good content about photography achieves
absolutely nothing. Instead, say, Mako just lives even more rent-free in people's minds even if they're no longer on DPR.

As for saying it's not about "us and them" at all after this: "Most of the remain-ers on DPR are bum kissers who love the sound of their own opinions..." Is pretty ironic.

I don't think it's an 'us vs them' scenario. The two sites have different end goals. Yes, this site started as a replacement for DPReview, but as has been mentioned a few times, we have changed. But our end goal is a long way away, which has made people who wanted a DPReview style forum drift back to DPReview.

We do not plan to be a gear forum - which may be why some of the manufacturer forums (consolidated) are quiet. We are all about the photo (as the heading says) and future plans should emphasise that.

So, keep posting picture and critiques and friendly banter and enjoy this forum for what it is, rather than what it is not.
