If you note that those links to threads are referenced by a post number, changing/editing the title of a thread will have no negative effect on the link.
Post No. 12345 will always be post 12345
Personally I found this really annoying on DPR, especially when people used the subject for all the text of their post. It also makes little sense in flat mode.
😊 I always thought that it was an essential feature at dpr - it can serve as an abstract. If the titles must remain the same throughout, why should they even exist at all? In my thinking having editable titles to replies is a feature request at the same priority level as threaded mode.
Hence why titles don't exist on individual posts here, and it's all my dreams come true at once.

I never used but found interesting the threaded "a la mode Reddit" on DPR and some others
Yes, I don't mind threaded existing as an option, I know some people like it - my personal preference is flat and it annoyed me on DPR it would often dump you into thread view in some circumstances.
