Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the announced shuttering of DPReview (which did not happen), the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Last week's purrs, #830 / DPRv #23

    Thread Manager's Corner:
The week ahead has some special events, all on Saturday. In the Northern hemisphere, it's the first day of Fall, in the Southern hemisphere, it's the first day of Spring, and in both hemispheres, it is the 16th anniversary of the Sunday Cat! At the top of this page you'll find a link to that first edition. This week's thread will add to the tradition. :)

    Hi,

This is Mouse. Yeah. Odd name for a cat. I had her 2011-13. This was when I was working remote in Irving Texas. I had an apartment walking distance from work. And a notice showed up in the mailroom. This kitty needed a new home as they were moving to a new place that didn't allow pets. It had a end date on it, and I called a couple days before to find no one had taken her. So I did.

Near the end of 2013, my work completed, I was heading back to North Carolina. It is a two day trip on the road. I could have taken her but that's a bit rough on a cat. Plus she was declawed. Not something I'd ever do but she came that way. And this farm is not a good idea for a declawed cat.

Fortunately, being a ham radio guy, I always have a large extended family wherever I go. And a fellow family of hams came to Mouse's rescue. They had a nice house and weren't moving any time, so they took her. And, having already been passed off a few times, she took it in stride.

What we did was move her a few weeks early. And I paid her a lot of visits. And she settled into her new home in a couple of days. And she's still with them.

She is laying on her new mom's lap. Looks pretty content. :)

We asked Lexi how much he loved us and the cats he shares the house with ( he is a very good listener- very attentive) He has not mastered speaking in our native language however. But he is able to use sign language, here is how he answered the question. That is as much as he can show us and it is a lot.

Perspective helps with some photos, but not all photos.
    Very good series.

I know from my own experience that cats understand us or at least feel what we mean.
You definitely captured a very interesting and lovely moment. 👍

. . . or what my best friend and I call "the best end of the cat" -- or at least they seem to think so, the way they are always presenting that end to your face when they're walking back and forth on your lap! 😹

It looks like I might be able to set up a group order, but the website seems to have conflicting information on whether orders can be shipped to multiple addresses or to one address only for distribution. Since they're closed now I used their contact us page to find out more. I'll mention that the one off shirt was $32.25US and free shipping. Not sure if multiple orders will make it less expensive. Not cheap but kind of fun anyway. :)

This is such a lovely story, and with a genuinely happy ending! A really smart way to operate as well, both with reaching out to the ham network and getting Mouse into her new home early so she had time to adjust before you left.

Looks like that to me too, but apparently not exciting enough to be worth the effort of jumping after it!
