    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Fastidious Kitty of the Week!

    Alex, actively working on his glossy sheen! :D

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    Thanks for the wonderful images this past week, and the replies. My focus continues to be on Palmer and his welfare. He is so close to the end but continues to let me know that he's not ready yet. ;) So he gets a lot of my attention to help him keep things that way. Now that spring is here we spend a lot of time in the backyard together. He enjoys his sunshine in the morning and I join him later when it's shady. Meanwhile, because I can do my work remotely on a laptop computer, I get paid to sit outside with him! :D And now, on to the kitties!

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    Mokey on the shelf above my desktop computer. Around 5 feet above the floor
    he has no problem jumping up there. We had to remove books, dust collectors
    so he would not knock stuff on the floor when he landed. He likes surveying the
    surrounding room on the lookout for marauding cats.
    Hi,
    Looks like comfort to me. Another Peanut. We had one, and he was aptly named as he was a nut. We usually called him Nutter.
    Here is Peanut being comfy on Mom so he doesn't miss anything.
    He has been gone for some years now. And we still miss him riding around on us.
    I really like the intensity and directness of his (?) her (?) look. It just seems to sum up the nature of a cat.
    They definitely love their high places! I have a cat tree that's about 6 1/2 feet high. There has always been dominant cat at the top of that. These days Mini-Me "owns" it. Something he's done that none of the others before him did is jump from the top of the tree to the top of the door just opposite the tree when the door is left wide open. They like to show off too. :)
    This definitely looks like a very snuggly place for a kitty to snooze in. It appears that Peanut was brought out of his reverie by the sounds of a photograph in the making. ;)
    I've never had a kitty that wanted to ride on a shoulder but Cali would sometimes get on the back of the big office chair I used to use and make herself comfortable there. Most of the time though they have preferred to make themselves comfortable on my lap, often with my arms pinned down making it hard to type at the keyboard! Neither of my current kitties however is even a lap warmer. :(
    Although he looks a little stunned at being caught lording over his domain, with a camera no less! ;)
