    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Well Groomed Kitty of the Week!

    Tiger

    Tiger, momentarily distracted from the important task of grooming. He needs to be especially mindful of his appearance when being photographed with an OM-1 and the stellar mZD 12-100 f/4 lens where every detail shows! ;)

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Last week's purrs, #880 / DPRv #73

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    Here we are, at the start of September, the end of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the anniversary month for the Sunday Cat! :D The visits, reactions, photos and comments here are always very much appreciated. :) Without any further delay, let's begin the new week!

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    The last week or so I've been focusing on shooting film with my Pentax H3. :D
    But a couple of weeks ago I caught sight of this Cat.
    It must be dangerous if it needs to be kept in a cage. ;)
    Hi,
    Way too light duty cage for that Cat. It'd run right thru it!
    I don't have such Cats, but I do have similar Deeres....
    I don't keep them caged, though. ;)
    Edit: the one I the left is 1958 and was my dad's. The one on the right is from 1978.
    That CAT is taking Labor Day off.
    The comment is meant for the CAT behind the fence. The only way to slow them down!
    Micio has just had a small skin cancer removed from his ear.
    He is bashing his way around the house with this big collar.
    I like that they have managed to find good shelter for themselves without unnecessary confinement. ;)
    I like Doris' sweet look as she strikes such a professional looking out of the frame pose. Very talented! We look forward to seeing her modeling career develop. :D
    On the other hand, Jack doesn't seem to get the modeling idea yet. "Me? Pose? You want me to look where? Huh?"
    And Sammy seems to be saying, "you want me over there? But I'm very comfortable here. I see no reason to go there!"
    Like most kitties he does not appear to be too happy about the situation. They do learn to manage eventually... Mr. Me did not take too kindly to his collar.
    In his case he got injured in a fight he got into after he managed to get out of the house. Because he kept on scratching off the scabs when it was taken off, he ended up wearing the collar for two months until all the scratches on the top of his head were completely healed. Poor guy, I guess it itched pretty badly while it was healing.
    In Micio's case I hope that is his only experience. I used to have a white cat and was advised by the vet to keep her out of the sun because of skin cancer issues. Or, if I was going to let her out it was suggested that I actually put sunscreen lotion on her ears to protect them. Well, you can imagine how that went! In any case I guess I was lucky. She never had a problem with that in her nearly 17 years. I hope Micio heals up well and quickly!
