Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Unprepared Kitty of the Week!

    Street Cats of Istanbul

Perhaps savoring a recent meal, this handsome street cat of Istanbul was caught unprepared for his photograph. :)

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #907 / DPRv #100

    Thread Manager's Corner:
It's been quiet, and I was as well, having spent several evenings doing my day job this past week... But today I did finally get my photos copied to the computer I am using now, so I hope I can do some posting! As I come up for air, I noticed the pinned "Forum updates to come" post. I like the idea of promoting the weekly threads. It's not clear to me if there will be a separate forum for each or what, but I haven't asked about that yet. I know others have suggested doing something like that for Sunday Cat! but I wanted it to stay as it was at DPR. After almost two years of being here at DPRv, I think may be ready to change things up a bit. Meantime, on to the kitties. :)

    Collared!

Mr. Me, hoping that if he closes his eyes long enough it will just go away... This shot is from a couple of weeks ago. This past Monday he was relieved of his collar. As long as he doesn't have inflammation flare up again in his eye, he is free of it. He's getting lots of medication to keep things under control. Getting that reduced will probably take some time. Meanwhile he is enjoying the 11 Pill Pockets he gets each day! :D

    Hi,

Oh, no! The dreaded Cone of Silence!
    IMG_20180419_144422.jpg

Here is poor Fred from years ago with his Cone of Silence on. When I took it off, he attacked it and stalked it as it headed to the trash can. Then, he kept looking in the trash can to make sure it hadn't escaped!

They get used to it pretty quickly I found, when Micio had his non malignant tumour opp. Strangely cats have no problems with medicines, I guess they make them taste nice.

In Mr. Me's case he didn't quite seem to get the hang of it, although he wore it for several weeks. He was always catching it on things and getting hung up because he thought he could pass through. It was clear that he was much relieved when it came off. So far he's the only cat I've had that Pill Pockets have worked for. With the others I was forced to pill them, which I hated and they did too! Although in Palmer's case I was able to crush the pill and mix it into his canned food. Each cat seems to have their own rules. :)

Sounds like he was ready to kill his tormentor! At least he apparently didn't blame those who actually put it on him. :)

    the cat from the neighbors-1small.jpg

Say hi to Gideon our visitor from across the road. He likes to relax on our roof,. On a cold morning the sun warms the surface -
and we watch him as he watches us. Gideon is well fed, occasionally get treats from us and is taken care of by his owners. The window through which
I took the photo is not too clean and the screen does not help
    sharpness at all.
