Not sure if Digirame has WIFI or is otherwise occupied 😊
So I will open the new thread:

This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

We begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time more or less😉) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

As mentioned in last weeks thread we did see the sun again after many cloudy and rainy weeks.
We did enjoy this with a nice hike at a nature reserve and recreation area called Gasselterveld.
The temperatures were still a bit on the low side (arround 0 c) but almost no wind and the sun with a few friendly clouds made it very enjoyable
Took only a limited set again Only the our two R6-IIs were used.

    Photobygms,

It's nice to see your sunny photos and all of that blue sky. That's neat that you have all of that sand. It looks like a perfect place to walk barefoot, despite the cold temperatures. 😀 We also had some dry weather, but we instead had fog and clouds roll in the valleys.

    Subject: Christmas Parade

Last month I was able to photograph a local Christmas parade. I was thinking about bringing the Canon R8 to the parade, but I had not really finished adjusting everything yet from the menu (I bought it as a Black Friday special in late November). So I brought the Canon RP instead. This type of photography is beyond just taking low-light pictures, in that everything was dark except where illuminated from street lamps and any other thing that was not the sun. I thought that next year I should be on the other side of the street, because they seemed to stay nearer to that side. Also it helps to be close to a street lamp that will shine on the participants a little.

Sometimes the ISO levels were crazy high because I wanted to have enough shutter speed to freeze the action. With the Canon M50 Mark II last year, I was restricted to about half of that Canon RP shutter speed, which was about 1/40th to 1/50th of a second.

This does again show how today's (full frame) cameras handle high ISOs

    Photobygms,

Thanks. In some cases where the motion was less I could have used slower shutter speeds. But in a way, I was testing the camera. The Canon R8 should be a little better in low light conditions. I've tested the Canon R8 at ISO102400 (JPEGs) and it did pretty well with some fine noise. One time ISO80000 looked pretty good too.

On Friday afternoon, about two hours before sunset, I noticed a large number of pigeons in the city. I was on a tram, and the first sighting was of a lot of them on the ground, which I couldnt photograph, as it was on the other side of the tram. A couple of stops further on, I noticed these sitting on cables. I have never seen similar scenes here before.

If you go to Amsterdam or any other big city in the Netherlands those pigeons are sometimes just in front of your feet......(annoying)

    Photobygms,

You have more fog and clouds than us. Brrr...it makes me cold just looking at the images. I assume the humidity was high also. I'm glad you went out in it and had a good time with your camera. Yesterday I was out also. I tried to get some good photos of the wood ducks, but they stayed further away from me than I would have liked. Today we have sunny weather but the temperatures are about 8C in the afternoon or about 46F. Last night it went below the freezing mark. We are having unusually dry weather, but it's still coat & jacket weather.

    David,

When I viewed your photo at full size, that's where I could appreciate seeing the large quantity of pigeons together like that. I only see pigeons in our large city, but not in the farming areas or small towns.

It skating season here. The ice is artificial, but it is cold enough not to melt. This is a private rink called the Wiener Eislaufverein (Vienna Ice Skating Club). You have to pay to go in and (perhaps) get a better view!

    David,

I liked seeing your skaters. Recently I took photos of skaters also, but it was very dark because they were skating beneath a tent. The tent was a temporary structure to protect the skaters and the ice from the rain. The ISO levels were very high because of the dark conditions.

It's good to see the snow. So far this year, we have had none in the valleys.
