This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

    Subject: Four Wood Ducks Pictures

During the winter months, it's a challenge for me to see if I can get some more pictures of Wood Ducks. Sometimes it can be fairly easy, other times like this time it's quite tough. But I like these photos especially the ones near the vegetation which reminds of how they like to hide from us. This was taken on March 1st of this year.

Subject: The Wood Duck Hunt Continues

Any chance I get, I enjoy the opportunity to find these Wood Ducks. Hunting for them with cameras is fun. In our area, they leave sometime in the spring and I won't see them until next September or October. But there have been some exceptions, but that is usually the case.

Photo No. 1 - I first saw these people feeding some ducks. Then I noticed the Wood Ducks that were also interested in some free food.

Photo No. 3 - Then after the people had left I walked over to where I saw the Wood Ducks. This is not my favorite photo, but I wanted to show you all what I found with them walking along below the trees.

Lens Model - TAMRON SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD A011

Photo No. 4 - Finally, the Wood Duck pair made its way around me behind some bushes and swam near me. I only got a chance to take two photos of them like this.

Photo No. 5 - They still were making it hard for me to get good photos of them under dark cloudy conditions. But with some effort, I did get a few. So the "hunt" was a success. 😀

    Subject: Two Small Birds

Sometimes I can get some closeup photos of small birds with the Canon R8. With the accompanying Canon RF 100-400mm lens, it's smaller than my Tamron telephoto lens and I think is less intimidating for the birds. I also set the Canon R8 on silent shutter to not scare them. Here's a couple of them.

Edit: I should mention the ISO values are high because we had very dark cloudy skies. The shutter speed is also fairly high because these birds hop around so fast while looking for food, that it makes it tough to catch them with the camera and lens.

    Subject: Nutria

On March 6th I found this nutria swimming. They are kind of like a beaver, but with a round tail. They are a pest where they chop down the trees near any body of water. I liked this photo because I caught some nice reflections with the nutria too.

    Digi,

Considering the vast preponderance of bird pictures on this thread, dont you think its title is a bit misleading? 😀😀😀

Here's a red barn I captured on my trip last week. I set the shutter speed high since I took this out of the car as a passenger at highway speeds. I hope you like seeing more of our Oregon farmland. 😀 I thought I'd show something else besides nutria and birds. 😀

    David,

I did show crocus flowers and you replied just before I submitted my red barn pictures. 😀 I have a ton of photos I take each week. Typically, during the winter months I do take a lot of wildlife photos, and most of them are birds. So I'm guilty as charged.😀 As the weather warms up, I'll be traveling more and taking more photos at people events too. Spring is a great time for flowers...so be ready for them with me focus bracketing and stacking some of them. 😀 I just love that feature on the Canon R8.

That's a lot @Digirame, and they are very nice again!!
The goose mugshot, those two little birds and the barn shots are my top favorites.

We did have some decent weather again during the weekend, temperature dropped a bit but the sun did show up again.
We decided to visit the Hoornse Bulten and go for a nice hike through the Boswachterij Gieten.

    Photobygms,

I enjoyed seeing your pictures of when you were hiking with all of that blue sky and clouds. It's great that you were able to see the sun. I do like that you also found a bird. With our telephoto lenses we do have to include a few birds or a lot of them. LOL 😀

Oh, I see that this thread got put in the misplaced posts section. I'll notify Alan.
