The Weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Starting 6 May 2024 Any Brand

This is the weekly Collegial Show Your Photos Any Brand thread where we invite you to show your own pictures. It is collegial in that it is a pleasant and friendly place among photographers to share.

I will begin this thread each Monday (Pacific Standard Time) to give each of you all the chance to share your weekend photos with us, for those that follow a regular work week schedule and choose to do it that way. But the pictures can be taken at any time with any camera, including your cell phone. It's open to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. The images posted can be anything from casual snaps to extraordinary. I'll be sure to comment to each of your photos, if you choose to share. Replies from others are encouraged also.

The intent of this thread to mainly to just show photos in a relaxed way and to generate replies or comments about them. Generally I'm not planning to critique any image unless asked. But I or we may ask things about a photo that may develop into a discussion, always being friendly and helpful. It has been a request that I mention this and from what I've learned from past experience: Can you ask a member first if they would mind you editing their photos?

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each. Please share any tips or techniques too. A narrative sometimes also helps. Thanks everyone for your participation.

On the way home, about 6:30 last evening, the sun was in front of me and there were children playing in the fountain on Praterstern. For some of the shots I held my hand up to avoid getting the sun in the view. I cant decide which shot is the best.

Subject: Tulips in the Rain

Last weekend I had a chance to go to see some tulips in Woodburn, Oregon. It was the last day of the season, so not many tulips were remaining. It was unfortunate also that we had some rain. So as I do normally I documented the tulips in the rain, using my umbrella. After the rain stopped I can share more photos about that later too.

Photo No. 1 - When we drove to the tulip farm we had heavy rain in spots. But when we first got to the tulip farm, we actually had some blue sky. But I had to hurry and take some pictures, before the rains returned. You can see the "I love Oregon" sign on the right side.

A few weeks ago, Digirame showed us a delivery robot that roams the streets near the university. This one takes food to customers' tables in a local Chinese restaurant.

It also collects the dirty plates and returns them to the kitchen!

Those photos at the fountain are very good. I like the first one the best. That's neat you could capture the lighting that way in the water spray.

Is it that warm where you live? We are still having rain at about 50 degrees F or 10 degrees C (plus or minus). We are getting snow in the mountains. But in about five days we are supposed to get some warmer weather.

That robot is very similar to the one I took in a restaurant last year also. It was able to take orders, deliver food and accept payment for the bill. But I can't remember if it collected the dirty dishes too.

Those dishbots are very common in the Netherlands not only in those chinese restaurants 😉

Rain and a more cloudy weather can give some nice atmosphere to the colorful flowers, tulips in your case @Digirame

Last week, I was playing with low shutter speeds and low ISO's.

Both these were taken at 1/8th of a sec at ISO 100. I really like the richness of the colors.

I am sure that, as Photobygms siggests, there must be more around here, but I havent seen any. However, a lot of restaurants have stepped floors, which it might not be able to negotiate.

Serendipity!

It was about 25C yesrerday. cooler today and we just has thunder, rain and hail — very rare occurrences.

And here are a few from this weekend.
First up the bike ride. Just took our Canon Eos R and the RF35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM.

My trusty old bike:

It used to be my fathers bike, but I do own it since a few years because he couldn't use it due health issues
It's a 22 year old RIH Z-900 hybride/trekking bike, And I have been maintaining it and upgrading some parts lately like brakepads, tires and tubes
Some specs:
Fork an saddle with suspension, Shimano Deore (3x9) drivetrain and shifting, Shimano disc brake at the front and V brake at the rear
And since a week an Ergotec AHS Premium handlebar and a Garmin Edge Explore 2 😁

And a short stroll on Sunday in our own local Asserbos 😁
Again a minimal gear selection, the Canon Eos R and the RF24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM only

Many Rhododendron were spotted:

I prefer the F2.0 narrow depth of field one, it's not as busy as the F8 one

I prefer the f/8 version because it has all the flowers in focus and the background is sufficiently out of focus not to get in the way. The f/2 version, with its extremely out of focus background is for me irritating as I cant see any shapes in the background and not all the flowers are in focus.

By the way, why doesnt the EXIF data show the FF equivalent focal length?

You did pretty well with the low shutter speed. I do like the richness of the green colors too. At first glance the cat looked like a baby lion, ready to pounce on some prey..

That's a cool looking trusty old bike. It's perfect to traveling and taking pictures. The landscapes are pretty with all of that green. You could add a basket for it for another camera and lens. I knew someone that had one on a motorized scooter. I'm not sure what it was called but I remember the basket. She had trouble walking and she used it for two cameras and two lenses.
