    The Weekly Street Photography Thread
Welcome to the street photography weekly thread. We start it on Fridays. We are hoping to get your images and hear what other members think about them.
It is open to all members of the forum; members can post a single image or a selection of images on a theme in a single post. Multiple posts are allowed.
What constitutes street photography has always been debatable. There are several opinions about it, and we do not want to restrict participants. You can post whatever you deem fits into the genre; however, please be prepared to hear criticism as well.

    Guidelines:
    1. We aim to increase the popularity of street photography and encourage our fellow photographers to be more interested in the genre.
    2. Give your photo a title and include any other information you think is relevant. I personally love to know why you made this photo, what attracted you to make it, and why you like it. But this is NOT MANDATORY.
    3. A single image or a theme-based group of images are allowed. No multiple posts, please.
    4. If you post an image, that means you are ready to hear feedback.
    5. We want to hear your thoughts about others’ posts.
    6. Please keep all posts civilised and polite.
    7. Unless specifically stated otherwise by the original poster, please do not modify the images.

Street Portrait of Uncle John. He is an American who was visiting London. He was kind enough to accept being my model.

The little town of Rolling Fork in the Mississippi Delta has a festival every fall called the Great Delta Bear Festival honoring Teddy Roosevelt, who came there to hunt bear, couldn't find any, then refused to shoot the little bear a local brought to him tied up with a rope. From that refusal the opposing political party derided Roosevelt for being softhearted, and from the derision, the Teddy bear was invented: a soft stuffed bear that commemorated the supposed weakness of the President. Rolling Fork was home to Muddy Waters and other famous blues musicians, a Civil War battle, an array of ancient Native American earthworks, and a destructive tornado that wiped 75% of the town out 3 years ago. One of the things I like about the festival is that everyone who enters has to sign a detailed photo model release, so there's no worries about whether it's OK to take pictures of anyone.

    Almost a self-portrait 😀
Do you use the camera crop modes for this kind of portraits?

A curious story, that of Teddy Bear.
And a good example of the event's festive and diverse atmosphere...

I tried some more focused crops on the protagonists, but in the end I decided to leave the scene complete…
    Good menu.

    Holy Week in Mykonos

    Cyclades 2016 Apr-May-109.jpg

Arriving by evening ferry we found the route to our hotel unexpectedly complicated by local folks sprucing up the streets for the beginning of the new tourist season. Wheeling suitcases along greek village alleys while avoiding wet paint was a challenge! Early next morning I went in search of photo subjects...

The wider scene is definitely way to go. Context is everything here.

This beauty appeared unexpectedly and I couldn't properly adjust the shooting parameters to panning properly, so it required a bit of extra editing work...

Intersting details of American history and geography. I liked the idea of model release forms.

I think it is fine as it is. There is a very nice architecture there.

Yes, sunglasses reveal my identity as well. No, I don't crop modes; I crop them in the post-processing though, but I get very close and only a tiny crop to make it more balanced. I like to have a shallow DoF; you need to get close with a 28 mm lens ( in reality, is it less than 28 mm actually?).

It is an interesting crop. I wonder why you gave up lower extremities ?

For a second, I thought he caught a mouse! Painting the roads is interesting. I can live on a Greek island forever. I just need bread, tomatoes, olive oil and fish.

A while ago I captured this lady with her briefcase walking over the bridge in Gmunden, Austria. I do wish the resolution was higher, but I am a big fan of the composition in general.

Nicely divided parallel zones and colours. I think the resolution is fine. It might be better if you caught her between metal poles.

The headdress and earflaps and the lines of his face build his character. Then it's the interaction between you both, the intensity of the gaze and the reflection that makes the shot.
This is a much better way to get a selfie than one of those stick things.

I'd have voted for him on the story.
And I reckon the gent on the chair has a soft heart as well. The boy and puppet may be the subject but the guy on the chair is the winner. Love the tilt of his head, the small smile, the comfortable paunch, the relaxed legs and the interlaced fingers.

I agree with your crop decision. The feeling of place and the significance of the open door behind the couple, are important parts of the story. The collonade adds a useful frame to the couple, without being over obvious.
