    Peonies! Wonderful!

Like Calla Lillies, it's impossible to take a bad picture of Peonies!

My wife is from Wisconsin. Living in San Diego County, we have no such flowers. She remembers (and greatly misses) Peonies which she says were "as big as dinner plates" that grew in her back yard when she was a kid. Every year some of the local supermarkets here have them at exorbitant prices for a few days. We always splurge for them.

Really like the bold graphic quality that this picture has.

I really like the colour and pattern in this close up.

Really enjoyed this wonderful scenery. The "three in a row" and the last shot are my favourites.

    Thanks!
One of the reasons I am using a FF now, instead of M43 (which I still really enjoy, btw), is that the FF sensor is able to capture those delicate shading and color transitions in flowers like this, with ease. The M43 sensors are good, but they miss more than a little of this kind of subtle color gradations in this type of subject.

I'm still experimenting with which lens to use for my flower work with the FF, though. This shot was taken with a 150-600mm, which is a PITA to carry about, but I think I like its results the best of what I have tried so far.

"Like Calla Lillies, it's impossible to take a bad picture of Peonies!"

Oh, I am not sure about that....I have a few dozen less than stellar examples from these sessions 😁

And, yes, they can get huge, and they are so showy and dramatic when they bloom. Of course, they only last a few days, and when they are done, they are done...one morning you come out to the flower bed, when they decide it's time, and the entire ground is covered with shed petals, with nothing left on the stems. It looks like it snowed overnight, from the white mounds of petals over the ground!

Perfect timing, and framing, on this shot. It makes you wonder what the folks on the folks on the bus are heading out to (or back from).

That's exactly right, interferance pattern from two sets of ripples.

I can name all the flowers, but the snake...??? Maybe a melanistic adder? Is that the classic zig-zag pattern just discernible, though very dark? How big?
Three in a row is well spotted 😁
    I enjoyed your walk.

This weekend there are traditional old town days in Tallinn.

This year there are free seats with trees in town hall square, so you don't have to buy 7€ beer to have a seat and rest in some restaurant's terrasse there.

    Folk-musicians playing tunes to dance:

Folk-dance, it involved complicated movement around in chain, somewhat reminding old phone snake game. Dancers old and young, some from public joined as well:

    Wow!

I don't know if I would want that in a big print on the wall, but there is something fascinating about it that makes me want to stare at it.

    An old favourite in B&W
I was just looking through my archives and found this old favourite, this time processed in B&W.
The colour version of this image was exhibited in our open air gallery a few years ago, but the B&W treatment seems to work well too :-)

That festival is great time to be in Tallinn. A fantastic atmosphere captured in your series here :-)
I like the costumes in your first shot.

The free seats are good addition; I had to pay for that expensive beer on my visit a long time ago in 2012 ;-)
But at least the beer was served by Ingrid with a nice smile :-)

Striking colours and interesting to see the faces in the windows, but that big blurry shadow at the bottom is a bit of a distraction for me
