    Ghosts

Walking through the woods this morning in the dreich.

The surrounding bushes always seem to me to me cowering away from their oak overlord.

Couldn't resist the cliche ICM shot in the forest 😉

The remains of what was once Gallows Farm. There are many piles of stones scattered over these hills which were once homesteads until the enclosures drove the inhabtants away. This one was apparently occupied until the 19th century, now just a trace surrounded by forest.

I love the rule-breaking composition and drama in this one.

Gosh, sorry to hear that. Hope all goes well with recovery. I daren't think about the UK health service these days.

These terra cotta scenes have a strange fascination. They seem to capture extraordinary characterisation and emotion. Were there many artists producing these or just one or two?

Love this! The subtle colour toning is excellent - but is that some strange textural artifact giving that vertical barring in the ice right of centre?

Interesting shot. The juxtaposition of real and 'fake heads is quite disturbing.

No, it's a natural crack in the ice which I believe re-froze...

That first shot really shines, with the juxtaposition of the tree and bushes. The vignette treatment adds too.

Photos of what were one lively farm houses, now fading back into the landscape always fascinate. The name of the farm is a bit grizzly though.

Thank you. Last year I saw the workings of the NHS, when my late mother had an accident. RHS Bath, were beyond bad, Bristol was top notch. The GP service was a disaster as it was when I lived in London thirty five yeas ago.

Up to now, I have found just three artists who made these terracotta groups, one from each period. But I have not done any real research.

You, need to look as this big, to enjoy the patterns, in this chilly shot

You need to take some time with this picture, with all those heads, and the guy on the left who I did not see at first.

I saw it the other way, as though the bushes are creeping up on the Dark Overlord. I love the shot either way.

Without consulting Google maps, I do not know, as I have shamefully forgotten the sequence. But, I would say London Bridge.

I can name the Ship in the picture. It is the Belfast, one of my Grandfathers ships during WW2.

Perfect, I would have been willing to accept just the name of the city ;-)

    Wishing you a speedy recovery.
The NHS,...From what I've seen from my family in England, is that once you get accepted as a patient with serious needs the treatment is pretty good, but it's not so easy to get into the System. Contacting a GP by phone is hard

I like these two best from the terracotta sculptures :-)
