Looks like hidden between trees gem. And mountains in distance add nice background.

Haven't people learnt nothing from the day of the triffids? :D

Great shots. Especially third, with bit lower shooting position it would have looked like some energy shot out of that tree branches, world of magic.

I woke up bit after 3 AM on Saturday and couldn't get sleep again so at 5 I rose and went to bird sanctuary. If I have looked out I'd maybe seen something... Oh well, I hope that I have about year to capture good aurora as sun is about to reach its peak with solar storms.

These cables are indeed nightmare, for photographers and maintenance. They don't have problem of show and ice accumulation on them so they can get away with such installation instead of using underground cables, which is much costlier. And seems like they use same post for electric and communication cables?
Prizren looks like providing lot of photo opportunities, nice shots.

They're really part of the street scene in Prizren, so I regard them as part of the character of the place rather than a nightmare. I think they get a lot of snow and ice in Kosovo, so I don't know how they cope!

You just have to accept them as part of the street scene, part of the place. I've no idea how they work out what cable does what if they need to fix/add something!

I prefer the original subtle version. Surely drama isn't what's needed here.

I hadn't thought of that. Still, no sign of carnivorous spitting plants. Yet...

Lining the aurora up with foreground elements proved unexpectedly difficult, as it's continuously evolving and moving around in the sky. Also, it was so dark I couldn't see much of the foreground through the viewfinder without ramping up the exposure or, as turned out the be the easiest option, shining a torch at things so you could see them while lining up the camera.

It was such a thrill to see it, particularly with it being so clearly visible to the naked eye. I hope we get more events like this, but it felt like a once in a lifetime sort of thing (certainly here in Lancashire), particularly with the corona being directly overhead, that was amazing, even if it was awkward to photograph well. My dad would have loved it if he was still here.

I‘ve seen similar exposed cables in New England, and I am sure they must have problems when major snow lands on them. We did in Indiana.

Yeah, it was truly a thrilling thing to see. I'm still buzzing about it now.

I suppose what is "needed" largely comes down to personal preferences and the aim for the final image.

Fabulous! I'm so envious as I live in Scotland but am away in Montenegro at the moment so missed all the excitement completely.

Shame, it was a biggie, green, blue and red, a full G5 storm.
