    Thank you Woodsider79.

The colour casts are artificial as described in my previous post.

Thank you Chris. I'm glad you like it. This type of image is not everyone's cup of tea.

Regarding your query. The colour casts are artificial as described a couple of posts back.

    Mist Opportunities

I awoke to a promising weather forecast this morning. "Mist" it cried "Mist"! Looking out of the window, I saw no mist, only wetness. Maybe it rained overnight? As the morning wore on it seemed to be drying up, so I packed my bag and ~jumped~ clambered wearily into the car, heading off to my current favourite bit of woodland by Anglezarke reservoir. As drove out of town and into the country there was little evidence of mist, just worrying bouts of light drizzle, worrying because although the GFX100S is described as weather resistant, it's very non specific weather resistance on an expensive camera, so I wasn't about to risk getting it drenched (unlike the Olympus E-M1 MKII that I used to take out in weather that even I shouldn't have been out in).

Anyway, by the time I reached Anglezarke, the drizzle had stopped, albeit briefly as things turned out, so I parked up and trotted off into the woods. Having walked no more than a hundred yards I found my first composition, I also found that the drizzle had resumed. Under the canopy of the woods it didn't seem too bad, but at times it sounded pretty heavy. The camera got a little drizzle on it, but nothing that the microfibre towel I'd packed couldn't keep on top of. The main issue was that I didn't feel comfortable swapping lenses, so even though the 20-35 had come along for the ride, there was no way it would be coming out of the bag.

I pottered around the woods for the best part of three hours with the drizzle intermittently starting and stopping, although as the morning made way for afternoon, the pauses between bouts became much shorter and eventually it was just non stop drizzle, finally forcing me to wipe down the camera, secure it back in the back and start off back towards the car.

All images taken with the Fujifilm GFX100S + 45-100 f/4.0 with a CPL mounted on a sturdy tripod. Processed from individual raw files in Capture One Pro 23.

    Bright Valley

This was the first composition I shot. It's close to the beginning of the woodland trail and not a scene you'd notice in the direction I was walking, but I'd made a mental note of it when I was coming back in the opposite direction on my last visit to these woods (a less successful trip the previous day on Saturday morning).

    Wraiths

This scene stands a little way off the main trail down a steep slope that eventually leads to the reservoir. When I composed this, I was concentrating on the tall trees and the wall, but as I was editing it, the various fallen and deformed trees at the bottom of the frame jumped out as more interesting subjects, looking like twisted woodland wraiths.

    Last Of The Leaves

A closer look at one of the trees from the previous scene as it clings onto the last of its leaves.

    Not Blending In

There are a number of these seemingly marcescent trees dotted around this particular woods, retaining a splash of bolder colours as others fade around them.

    Shades of Autumn

I would have liked to include more of the upper portion of this tree, but it was set against the sky and as I'm looking up the slop, I couldn't find a vantage point to avoid this.

    Shades of Autumn 2

I moved in to get a closer look. Still constrained by the top of the treeline behind it.

    Muted Tones

Literally just the colours were the draw here, the composition is a bit weak. I like the way the woods is starting to look like the work of an impressionist painter.

    Protected

This little tree was a nightmare to reach, at least from where I started out trying to get to it. I like the way it seems to be being shielded by its neighbours.

    Afraid Of The Light

As I mentioned in my intro, I eventually reached a point where the drizzle was turning to rain and it was time to wipe down and pack up the camera in my waterproof bag. I even folded up the tripod too, thinking its work was done for the day. I can't have walked more than a dozen steps after doing this before I turned around to see the scene in this shot. I'd literally just walked through it without realising what a great scene it was because I was facing the wrong direction, but having now seen it, I let out a sigh and began unpacking the camera and setting up the tripod again.

Ha! I can see why you took the effort with the last. It's a good un.
Marcescent? Even as a keen gardener, that's a new one on me.

    Brighton Pier
I visited a friend in Brighton, and the weather was really dull. Increasing dehaze, vibrance, and texture gave the photo a vibrant kick. Normally, I’m not a big fan of bold colours, but I liked this one.

These two are my picks too.

It has other applications, but for trees it essentially means those still hanging onto their leaves long after they’ve turned brown and should have fallen off.

Yes, I like it too. Looks like a model.

I like bold colours and this one works for me.

They help add punch to the image.
