Nice shot. There's some sharp detail in there, although only a very thin layer.

    Here's today's catch.

    It's mid-month already.

We went out early since the forecast threatens rain for most of the afternoon and evening. Here's today's catch.

Excellent images. Grapes look very natural. Landing on the camera is frowned upon. I've done it before. Hopefully you and the camera are OK.

We went to the vineyards (again) but both shots today came from our trek through town.

It was a frustrating photo day today, and I'm lucky I got anything at all. Here's today's catch.

White bug on limb. Pentax K-1 with Pentax DFA 100 macro Pentax AF160 ringflash. ISO 100, F11 at 1/125. This was my quick "safety" shot. I was going to add a background and 2nd flash, but he got tired of waiting. This is why I try to take safety shots with macro.

I'm struggling to find new subjects on my walks through the vineyard. I think I succeeded today, though, but barely.

Great shot - looks pretty good for a 120 mm lens. 👍 The Pentax A 120 macro is said to be a pretty impressive macro lens still, if memory serves me right. This is clearly outside of its intended use, but some lenses hold up pretty well, almost regardless of the challenge.

I like these shots - both in terms of composition and look and the details are very convincing.

Thanks. The Pentax 645 120 is a sharp macro lens. You are correct. This is pushing the lens far beyond what it was designed for. I tend to do that with equipment. I enjoy "what if" experimentation.

I totally get that - try to do that as well and it's a lot of fun. Unfortunately I don't own a Pentax camera, but here's one of those 'pushing it' shots I took with an enlarging lens, which is heavily rumored to have been made by Pentax, the Durst Neonon 50 mm f/2.8:

After yesterday's bitching about lack of subjects, today I upload 13 images to Flickr. I took a different path through the vineyards, one I usually avoid due to a huge hill. Here's today's catch.

Great macro photo. The composition is very nice and clean. How did you mount and focus the lens? I use Nikon El-Nikkor enlarging lenses on helicoids and Pentax bellows. Interesting rumor about the Durst, never heard it before.

Very nice images - is there a thunderstorm approaching in the first one? Very interesting mood with the sky being darker in part then the ground would make me guess.

Thank you very much! It is a regular M39 enlarging lens, so quite easy to mount via an M39 adapter + helicoid. However I usually mount all my lenses on my bellows, which I have a M39 lens board for. In certain instances I use the lens reversed for which I either mount it (on the same lens board but) inside the bellows, or via the filter thread, if the lens has one. The (Pentax) Durst Neonons do have one.

I covered the rumors and some of the possible theories in an article I wrote with my friend Mark here:
    deltalenses.com/agfa-enlarger-lenses/
if you're curious. It's about the Agfa Magnolar lenses, but they're identical in everything but labeling to the Neonons.
