Thanks a lot - I'm glad you think so! As stated before: I would love to take a look at your shots as well. Even if you don't like the forum or site as a whole, perhaps consider giving the weekly C&C thread a try. I know this place is not dpreview in terms of membership or reach, but you can get different interesting opinions here as well (and I think you might have your own unique views on a couple of images from others). If you still feel like it's a waste of time or effort, you can always leave for other places including the original starting point site.

I don't think all of your criticism is invalid - there's certainly some truth to a number of points you bring up, but I don't feel like it will have any positive effect in the way you've been presenting it to be honest. Judging by the (short) history of this site, a couple of people who would be banned immediately on almost any other forum I know, got a real chance to participate here, so unless your mind is set on being contrary/offensive, I'd still recommend giving that route a try.

I think it is a good idea for you to keep your head down and get on with the changes that Alan described. The quicker these can be successfully implemented, the better. We all want to get on with expanding the active membership!

By all means report regularly, because I and others find that ecouraging; but dont get embroiled in discussions here...

I find myself using this forum less because DPR feels more populated, however I haven't dropped out yet.
A couple of UX notes:

When I return to forum, I still have no notifications from the threads I participated in. The simple red little notification flag (like on DPR and many other forums) would greatly encourage me to go there and maybe type a comment or two. I know I can go here dprevived.com/threads/subscribed/ but it's not a very straightforward action; a user needs to be pushed a little bit to create more content.

When I go here to check on the latest updates - dprevived.com/c/all-forums/94/ - I see 9-month old messages on the top, best case a few days old. If I were a new user or a casual visitor, I would have thought the forum is largely inactive. Only when I scroll down I can see newer messages.

Generally, the forum interface should encourage existing users to actively participate in discussions, and new users - to explore the content for longer and sign up.

Interesting. Here's what I see:
Fresh topics are at the bottom and wouldn't be seen on a screen not as big as mine.
In terms of the user's engagement, it's hard to tell, but when I come to a new form, before registration, I check how many fresh topics it has. If the latest comments had been there days or weeks ago, that would be a sign the forum is barely alive. Btw that's not the case with DPRevived - it's pretty much alive - but the link above may leave a false impression of a dead forum, if a newcomer doesn't look close enough.

Some forums have an additional tab with "hot topics" which DPRevivied kinda does by showing latest topic headings.

I don't need to navigate all the way through Threads, the All Forums link is accessible right from the front page:

So the Threads item doesn't show the pinned threads, but All Forums does...

CURIOUS SEARCH FUNCTION (caps lock!)

I tried to find post ad Taylor ,Taylor& Hobson and the Kapella design bureau in case someone had knowledge of the "Opic" genesis , but the search for TTH only tunrned up three names, stating that they had no posts.

So, the question is whether the search engine (very fast !) has some need of revision.
