Excuse my stupidity, but what does EC mean?

Exposure Correction?

Exposure Compensation is a setting found on many cameras to use for example when in Aperture Priority mode.
For example, a scene with lots of white (snow, clouds) will meter so as to make those whites more gray - and applying +1 to say +2EV EC will compensate that under-exposure.

Thank you for the explanation. I understand exposure compensation, I just didn't understand what EC stood for. Total stupidity on my part.
