On a day of low clouds and rain I usually go and photograph waterfalls. I was surprised to find that the water levels were incredibly low at these, much photographed, falls. Firstly I walked across the top of the falls easily crossing the stream and captured a couple of images. Then walked back and down to the entrance of the gulley and walked up to the falls. This position would usually be under several feet of fast flowing water so I took advantage of the low levels and edged as close as possible. The only difficulty was keeping the front of the lens and filters dry in the rain. The exif data will not tell the whole truth as all 3 images are mean blended, this allowed me to continually dry the lens between shots and remove any heavily rain speckled from the final blending but give the impression of a longer shutter speed. The longer shutter speed not only produces an effect that annoys and delights in almost equal measure but, as was wanted here, makes the water flow look greater. Finally I have added an image from last September when the water flow was more typical. Feel free to comment. Ken
