A couple of pics of pied cormorants taking off.

One has collected a very nice feather and the other, a stick.

Float Fishing the Green for big ol' Brown!

We saw this fisherman with a guide several times at different spots on the Green River (near Pinedale, WY). The time before there were three in the boat. Where the other man went - still a mystery although they say in that part of the Green they're some monster Brown trout. 🤪

Thanks for the images and narrative. It reminds me of the rhyolite pinnacles at Chiricahua National Monument in Southeastern Arizona. There, thousands of years of wind has eroded the pinnacles to display a similar phenomenon. Nicely chronicled. Looking forward to more.

    Great Blue Herons Nesting.jpg

A “golden hour” visit to the Great Blue Herons nesting on flooded islands in the Mississippi River. “Nordeast” Minneapolis. The best light for this scene would be as the sun was rising…but the weather refuses to cooperate.

Thanks. Not sure what you mean by stream bed. We can see two neolithic - age tombs in the foreground.

I could see this being an glacial outwash.

    Thanks, Jerry
For an area devoid of color most of the year, color is a welcome change.

Thanks, Morris. It seems when it is especially wet out west the east is drier and vice versa. At least we have a little more water for the next drought.

Irvine, California near the 55/405 freeway. It's a decent place to photograph birds and the location is free/open to the public. Lots of trails with trees and ponds.

    A Very Hungry Egret

Getting pretty hot for a few days and the wildflowers may whither away. Went to the San Jacinto Wildlife Refuge. First time and I don't live that far away. Fascinating area. Came across a very interesting (and not very concerned about my being there) egret who was feasting in the marsh. I will post a set later because I got some other interesting shots, including the colorful vegetation. However this creature was all by his lonesome and having a good time. So was I because I am not a birder. But I may become one.... hear me, Morris? OOC jpeg with a skosh more sharpening w/Topaz. Be sure to blow it up and tell me what's in the beak.

That’s a real beaut, Bob. Lovely Egret. Also great timing catching him with a freshly caught dinner (a frog perhaps?).
