Hello, Everyone, and thanks for making Contributions to this worthwhile endeavor,

This weekly thread serves as a place for those DPRevived.com members who own Fuji gear to share recent work …… specifically, with their Fuji X APS-C cameras. It's just fine for owners to post images made with their “other” cameras, but the idea is to allow owners with Fuji X APS-C cameras to compare notes, tips, and any other helpful hints.

To contribute your image, please respond to the original thread. Please include at the top your message a title to reflect what you wish to convey. Consider making it somewhat entertaining… it may add some “spice.” In addition to uploading/embedding your image, please tell us a little about the image if you wish. It is helpful to some of us who are less traveled to talk about the location of your photo if possible. If you can provide details such as camera, settings, and processing, that would be great for people reviewing the images.

If you wish C&C (comments/critique) please indicate that in your post. In this thread it should not be assumed everyone wants C&C. However, if you want specific feedback (composition, exposure, subject, etc.), don’t hesitate to mention it. It may be helpful to respondents what your needs may be.

    Thanks,

    Bob, your humble host

    PS…… Post away!

The Wetlands and a Lone Egret

    Hello, Again,

Last Friday I went to the San Jacinto Wildlife Refuge and was greeted with a sea of yellow and a whole heckuva lot of birds. It is a group of marshlands that were overrun with rain this year. The views to the north were breathtaking. The refuge is at the end of a dirt road in the middle of Riverside County, CA. The entire area is accessible by dirt road. An example of one of the marshes. There was almost no one else in sight:

    MarshAndMountain2.jpg

In one of the marshes amongst the branches were 2 fairly tall egrets. One started to move to the right. It was somewhat far away.

    ParentEgret.jpg

As I got out of the car the egret got out of the area and went bye-bye. I did not supply a crop but it was pretty sharp.

Hope to see a lot of your images.

    Bob

Really nice set, Bob. Really liked the marsh and mountain view with the snowcapped peaks. Lovely Egret shots as well.

    Hi all,

Photo of the 'Roode Leeuw' windmill in Gouda NL, one of four restored and
operating old windmills that are left here.
The 'Red Lion' is a corn grinding windmill.
Yesterday was the king's birthday so the flags were out 🇳🇱

More birds from the past month.

The first 2 are Little Wattle Birds from Salamander Bay which is a couple of hours north of Sydney.

Below is a common Kookaburra. Apparently these became an invasive species in the western part of Australia as they were only found in the east (According to Harry Butler in his 1970's show called In The Wild)

This last one is a Thornbill and I took this pic in Lane Cove National Park near where we live in Sydney.

    GHO chick contemplating flight

The chicks have been out of the nest for a few days. This is the smaller of the two chicks a couple of hours before it flew about 40 feet well after dark in light that only allowed us to watch. It's wings were flapping very fast unlike an adult that flies with a long beat of the wings and very gracefully..

Beautiful Shots! Maybe it is my eyes but the colors and definition are really good. Or maybe it is just those Fuji colors. 😁

Thanks. The native wildflowers really added to the scene as well as late snow on the distant mountains.

Thank you for posting all the images you've done so far. From DPR's bio this is your home country. As I've mentioned in the "other" forum and perhaps here in this one, the international nature of the member community makes for some great sharing. Furthermore it makes the "bucket list" even larger.

    Hello, André

Of all my years on this earth I just learned the history of windmills and their crucial function in creating land space. Thanks for the photo and I hated to admit this to the wider community. 😁

    Thanks for your reply, Bob.
Don't feel bad about not knowing everything about windmills 😉
That's the nice thing about forums like this one - you can find out about where other people live on this planet
and the (photo) subjects that interest them.

These old windmills in NL can be divided into three main types:
    - Water pumping mills (to keep the polderland dry).
    - Corn grinding mills (taller, to better catch the wind above the houses in towns).
    - Saw mills (especially important for Dutch shipbuilding in previous centuries).

Here's another one from Gouda, a water mill, beautifully restored last year
and they are just adding the last finishing touches in this photo.
