This weekly thread is principally intended for you to showcase your photos made with Canon cameras of all sorts: SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless, M-series, APS-C, film, etc. But any brand of camera will be accepted, including photos taken with your phone. We do enjoy reading an accompanying text explaining your photo and any special techniques you may have used. Comments and helpful criticisms on others' photos are also welcome: we can all learn something from each other. We look forward to seeing your contributions and new participants to this series of threads are always welcome!
A new thread for the following week will be posted next Saturday around 10 pm UK time.
Digirame and I will be active here and are sharing the hosting, but we are used to all joining in and commenting on others' photos.
Review of last week
Digirame dug out some fascinating photos that he made of a tragic fire in Hillsboro, OR, over two years ago (i.e. pre-DPRevived). Although we havent all necessarily had the opportunity of photographing such momentous experiences, it is a good idea to revisit our photos of yesteryear. Apart from the point that there seems little sense in taking photos that are never looked at, it is good to review our technical and artistic progress over time, and remind ourselves how technologoy has developed since the introduction of affordable digital cameras about 25 years ago. Please share any that you think might be of interest to us.
Digirame's next venture was at a spikeball game. Like most of us, I had never heard of this before. It looks like fun, though I am not sure quite what the rules are! He also found purple blossom at its peak, and a lot of what looked like geese to me. Are they migrating north? His weather is quite variable, with actual rain that looks like more than April showers.
Later he returned to the scene of the tragic fire, taking photos in light rain. Whatever the manufacturer's claim, I am always very reluctant to get my gear wet at all; but in the interests of science... it seems not to have been a problem. We have food carts all over the city here, they are part of the landscape and I will try to catch some photos of them.
We were all saddened to hear of the passing of Photobygms's father. Going out into the countryside for some fresh air always helps one to gain perspective in such circumstances, and he brought back more welcome evidence of spring. His bike trip showed us how advanced the Netherlands are in providing suitable and generous space for cycling. I hope to show what is being provided for bikes in our city, when the men have finished digging, later in the year!
Enter Steve with a mean looking vulture. Dont they start building nests and laying eggs at this time of year? Steve got enough clouds to satisfy his need for them, and also took a deer photo in his front yard, placing him in the back yard using Irfanview, with a very convincing result.
Meantime, I have enjoyed some sun, which has helped improve my efforts greatly. I will show some of the results in the new week.
Keep enjoying the Spring!
David
